Objectives Students in the Vascular Technology Concentration will: 1. Perform complete non-invasive extracranial , cerebrovascular, extremity arterial, extremity venous, Venous Mapping, Renal Artery, Mesenteric Arterial , Mesenteric Arterial, Abdominal Venous, Aorto-Iliac, Dialysis Access, Intracranial Arterial Evaluation (TCD) testing protocol. 2. Apply the appropriate diagnostic criteria to each of the above listed testing protocols; 3. Provide a complete and accurate assessment of all testing findings in a preliminary impression. 4. Modify the scanning protocol based on the sonographic findings and the differential diagnosis. 5. Modify the scanning technique based on the patient body habitus and visual artifacts 6. Describe and/or demonstrate appropriate procedures for assuring the accurate and timely interpretation of studies. 7. Describe various treatment options of abdominal vascular disease including 8. Pharmacology and interventional procedures. 9. Develop a working knowledge of Ultrasound Careers and their related requirements. 10. Students successfully completing the Vascular Technology Program will be eligible to sit for the American registry of Diagnostic Sonography Vascular Technology examination, and thereafter pursue an exciting career in Ultrasound technology. Degree Information: A Vascular Technologist, also called a diagnostic medical sonographer , provides health care patient services using medical ultrasound to gather data necessary to diagnose a variety of conditions and diseases. Lackawanna's two-year associate degree program requires 70 credit hours of course work and includes science and vascular courses, labs and clinical experiences as well as the College's basic core courses.
