Chemistry from Laramie County Community College is a Campus Associate Chemistry degree that prepares you for a Science career. The LCCC chemistry program provides students with foundational knowledge of chemical sciences. Completion of the curriculum will qualify the student for the Associate of Science degree . Graduates of the program are prepared to transfer to four-year programs in a wide variety of disciplines such as pharmacy, biology, molecular biology, physics, engineering, chemistry and chemical education. Those students unprepared to begin the calculus sequence upon entry at LCCC will determine their course of study in consultation with an advisor. About the Career Chemists work for a variety of manufacturing and non-manufacturing industries. Almost two-thirds of all chemists work for manufacturing firms?about one-half of these are in the chemical manufacturing industry; the rest are employed throughout other manufacturing industries such as textiles, paper, petroleum, electronics, and food. Chemists also work for state and local governments in health and agriculture and for federal agencies, chiefly the Departments of Defense, Health and Human Resources, and Agriculture. Chemists also hold teaching and/or research positions in colleges, universities, and high schools. Students planning careers as chemists should enjoy studying science and mathematics and should like working with their hands, building scientific apparatus, and performing experiments. Perseverance and ability to concentrate on detail and to work independently are essential. Other assets include an inquisitive mind and imagination. Program Advantages The LCCC chemistry program leads to an Associate of Science degree and provides a seamless transfer to a Bachelor of Science degree .
