Program Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the Certificate of Achievement in Correctional Science, the student will be able to: 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the workings of the correctional system by applying definitions, concepts, and principles to courts and correctional settings. 2. Apply critical thinking to research, evaluate, and analyze and synthesize the appropriate procedures for the collection of evidence and data in criminal case preparation pertaining to correctional institutions. 3. Develop, organize and write an objective report that meets the legal and detailed requirements of correctional institutions. 4. Be academically prepared to obtain an entry-level or midlevel position within the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation or federal correctional institutions.
