Journalism and science and environmental writing coursework emphasizes writing skills, and you'll take numerous writing courses. Basic and advanced research techniques are stressed. All courses have online components. Coursework also stresses individual instruction in small classes, practical experience and competency, legal and ethical concepts, and global perspectives. You'll learn the social and cultural implications of journalists' work as you study issues facing the field, and you'll learn the impact of media technology on society. If your interests are in science and environmental writing, the program helps you develop the skills to research and write about technical subjects for the general reader. You study issues involving science, society and communication. You explore the growing emphasis on health and fitness.
