Program Information: This program is designed for students interested in becoming registered nurses . Students who complete the program are eligible to sit for the exam of the State Board for Registration in Illinois as a registered nurse. Career Cluster includes registered professional nurse (R.N.) in acute care hospital, medical clinic, mental health facility, nursing home, school, industry and community health agency. All nursing students must earn a C or higher in all nursing courses. Students who fail to achieve a C in a nursing course may repeat the course one time. If they fail to earn a C or above on the second attempt, they will be dismissed from the program. Failure to earn a C in a second nursing course, even though the first course may have been successfully repeated is also grounds for dismissal. Only one re-admission is allowed. HLT 205, HLT 206, BIO 220 and PSY 220 must be successfully completed with a grade of C or better. If a C is not earned the course must be retaken. This applied science program of study must be taken in its entirety to meet degree requirements. This course is conducted on a limited-enrollment basis. Admission to this program involves additional procedures. This program has been articulated with Kaplan University, MacMurray College, Methodist College of Nursing and Millikin University as a 2 + 2 program if taken in its entirety.
