Education Counseling from Lincoln Memorial University is a Campus Master Counseling and Personnel Services degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Master of Education degree program provides professional preparation in education and other closely related fields, thus serving public school personnel, agency counselors and individuals in educational roles within non-school settings. The students may choose an area of emphasis from Counseling (PreK-12 School or Mental Health). The MEd degree program is a 33 semester hour program. Students seeking licensure must meet all requirements as specified by the state, which may entail more than the minimum 33 credit hours. Nine semester hours may be transferred in to the program from accredited institutions. A maximum of six hours of transfer course work may be used in the emphasis area. Transfer courses must have 5 or above as the first digit of the course number. These credit hours may not have been applied to a previous degree and must carry a grade of "B" or better. Course credit earned more than five years previous to the current semester will not be approved for transfer credit. All transfer credit must be approved by the Dean of the Carter and Moyers School of Education . Grades and quality points for transfer work will be included in the calculation of the LMU graduate grade point average (GPA). Counseling The purpose of the program in Counseling is to prepare students for effective performance in professional positions in counseling and guidance in elementary, middle and high school programs or in the non-school setting.
