Career Opportunities Graduates with an AA degree in Education are prepared to transfer to a four-year college or university and enter a teacher education program leading to a Bachelor's Degree in Education. The Early Childhood Program will prepare students for employment in child care or Head Start operations. This program emphasizes tribal philosophy, culture, history, and language. Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of the Education emphasis students will be able to: 1. Understand and explain how children develop and learn to provide opportunities that support the physical, social, emotional, language, cognitive, and aesthetic development of all young children from birth through age eight and how each stage impacts upon the classroom education of students. 2. Master the fundamental skills of writing, oral communication, library usage, computation, and scientific inquiry; 3. Prepare for employment in the teaching field as a teacher or for transfer to a four-year institution; 4. Identify the important social, economic, and political factors that impact upon American Indian education and the teaching profession 5. Practice analytical and critical thinking to improve problem-solving skills; and 6. Obtain a background in Winnebago culture to develop sensitivity, self-awareness, understanding, and appreciation for Native American cultures in general.
