Music from MacMurray College is a Campus Bachelor Music degree that prepares you for a Vocational Programs career. The Music Department is housed in the William H. Springer Center for Music, MacMurray's state-of-the-art music facility, opened and dedicated in May 2002. The Center includes Thoresen Recital Hall. Annie Merner Chapel, seating 1200, is the site of many concerts and recitals and is equipped with a nine-foot Steinway grand piano and a four-manual Aeolian-Skinner organ. Recording and video taping facilities are available for individual and group use. The department also possesses a two-manual harpsichord, built by Steven Sorli and modeled on a 1745 Dulcken. Performance is considered to be an important part of the Music experience. Periodic student recitals are held. All applied music students are required to perform three times each semester in the student recitals. Junior or senior recitals may be presented by any student if the music faculty approve the presentation of the recital at least one month before the scheduled date of the recital. Applied music examinations are taken at the end of each semester. Information on exemption from this requirement is available from a student's applied music teacher. At the fourth applied music examination (usually at the end of the sophomore year) the music faculty determines whether a student will be allowed to enroll in upper level applied music study. Attendance at recitals and concerts is required of all applied students. View more details on MacMurray College .
