Social Work from Marist College is a Campus Bachelor Sociology degree that prepares you for a Human Services career. The mission of the Social Work Program is to prepare students for entry level social work practice as generalists who are able to apply a broad base of knowledge within the context of an acknowledged value structure consistent with social work principles and traditions, using a range of skills, techniques, and strategies. The Program adheres to the principles and traditions of social work, especially those that direct us to celebrate diversity and to strive for enhanced opportunity, a higher quality of life, and social justice for all persons. Located in the Mid-Hudson River Valley the College recruits traditional aged students from the greater urban/suburban areas of the eastern coast from Massachusetts to Virginia. In addition, the Program attracts adult students from the immediate community. Given the unique social/geographic location of the Program and the mix of student populations, the Program is committed to preparing students who understand social issues related to urban environments, particularly smaller cities surrounded by affluent suburbs. The Program identifies with an integrated perspective of private troubles and public issues. The Program is committed to providing a dynamic educational experience, which includes growth for faculty as well as students.
