Why choose theatre as an undergraduate major, particularly a demanding BFA program like the one offered at Marshall? Many students feel that the theatre chose them. They simply cannot imagine any other path for themselves. The same could be said by many of us in the profession, but the truth is that we choose to be chosen. I choose theatre because I can think of no more fertile ground for the synthesis of critical and creative thinking, of rigorous discipline and dynamic play, and of painstaking research and inventive problem-solving. For many of us, our work is play and watching is simply not enough. What's the difference between the BFA and BA degrees? In general , the BFA is intended to serve students who have identified a career path in the performing arts and entertainment industry.
