Liberal Arts The liberal arts degree is a generalist degree that leads to competency in communication and critical thinking. The courses offered within the major are structured in a way that will provide liberal arts majors with the following skills: 1) writing proficiency across disciplines, 2) effective communication skills, and 3) advanced critical thinking skills. Course offerings are derived from the disciplines of literature, philosophy, art, music, language and speech. As such, students will embark upon history classes, theatre classes, literature classes and advanced communication courses. Upon completing the general education core (60 hours), students are required to take an additional 63 hours in the School of Liberal Arts . Each liberal arts major is required to partake in a Liberal Arts Capstone Project which serves as a culminating academic project and/or paper which highlights the student's understanding of liberal arts as an area of study.
