Information Visualization from Maryland Institute College of Art is a Campus Master Design degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. MICA's new MPS in Information Visualization will allow students from a variety of fields to translate their existing skills to the visualization industry and related areas. The first such program of its kind offered by an art college, the MPS is designed for artists and designers, as well as professionals in fields where the management of complex data through visualization is essential--including architecture, urban planning, homeland security, strategic planning, health, social networks, and more. As a highly specialized program, the MPS in Information Visualization program faculty will represent a range of disciplines including information visualization applications, software, and toolkits; graphic design; interactive design; and industry-specific research and development. Information visualization has relevance to practically every academic and creative discipline including arts, design , natural and physical sciences, business, engineering, information sciences, medicine, and humanities. Information visualization involves the generation and use of images and visual strategies to enable the identification, access, analysis and solution of various scientific, engineering, technological, planning and artistic / design problems. This global market demand for visualization will ultimately require a large number of researchers and creative developers who have a keen understanding of and training in visualization.
