The Paramedicine program prepares graduates to become members of the health care team and function as paramedics in a variety of different settings. The philosophy and structure of this program are parallel to those of the 1998 National Standard Training Curriculum for the Paramedic. This program will provide the student with an opportunity to gain a working knowledge of the concepts and skills requisite to caring for patients with acute, critical illness with the respect to all body systems. The student will have the opportunity to learn how to recognize signs and symptoms that pertain to the infant, child, adolescent, adult and geriatric age groups. The student will practice the current techniques to care for all patients with acute medical problems as well as trauma situations. The curriculum is designed to combine didactic, laboratory and clinical experience as well as a field internship to provide the student with the skills required to prepare for certification and practice. Upon completion, the Certificate in Paramedic is awarded and students are eligible to sit for the Massachusetts EMT ? Paramedicine Examination.
