The General Studies degree consists of: 1) An Area of Emphasis consisting of a minimum of 18 units; 2) Te Mendocino College 18 unit General Education requirements; 3) The remainder of the 60 required units for the degree in degree-applicable electives, including Institutional Requirements. This degree provides the maximum flexibility in program design leading to the Associate of Arts Degree. Visual and Performing Arts This area of emphasis will result in knowledge of the concepts and facility with the conventions of one or more disciplines within Visual and Performing Arts . Upon completion of this degree , the student will be prepared for work as a free-lance artist, dancer, actor, or musician, or entry level positions in museums, galleries, recording studios, radio stations, theaters, performing arts groups and other organizations and businesses involved in the arts .
