Mission Statement The mission of the Merced college Registered Nursing Program is to prepare our students for careers as professional Registered Nurses by providing a continuallyimproving educational program which is accredited by the CA Board of Registered Nursing and by instilling in our students a commitment to continued professional growth and lifelong learning. Program Student Learning Outcomes A. A student will be able to customize nursing interventions utilizing a decision making process based upon their knowledge of pathophysiology, mathematical principles,critical thinking, patient developmental levels and cultural differences. B. A student will be able to collaborate with an interdisciplinary health care team to demonstrate and utilize therapeutic communication techniques during interactions with their clients (as well as to obtain needed information during the phases of the nursing process). C. A student will be able to utilize critical thinking and problem solving during the phases of the nursing process. D. A student will exhibit an (internalized) individual code of ethics consistent with nursing professional standards and apply this code solving ethical dilemmas of patient/family care while acting as a patient advocate.
