The department offers a varied curriculum designed to develop skills in reading and writing, to promote understanding and appreciation of world cultures and literatures, and to enhance students' ability to communicate in the target language. In order to achieve these goals, a proficiency-oriented approach is used, which is student-centered rather than the more traditional lecture approach.
