What is \\\'Electronic Imaging & Media Art? (EIMA)\\\' Electronic Imaging and Media Arts is a visual arts discipline in which the computer is the tool for the creation of 2-D drawing and animation, 3-D modeling and animation, web site design, game development and motion graphics for television and the film industry. MCC offers three areas of study: Computer Animation, Interactive Media and Media Integration. Is it for you? Do you have a passion for the arts? Do you love to draw? Do you enjoy storytelling, motion pictures and games? Do you have self-discipline, motivation and a desire to be a working artist? A student in Electronic Imaging and Media Arts will choose courses on an individual basis to update professional skills or fashion a customized degree to concentrate and elaborate personal interests and abilities. Students are expected to develop high-level computer graphics skills and a body of creative work based on conceptual understanding of design and effective visual communication. These creative programs involve unusual dedication and an ability to set personal goals and keep to a demanding schedule. Exceptional results require time and effort beyond the scheduled lab hours. Job Futures Information and communication technologies are employed in a widely dispersed and decentralized global industry. Students in EIMA enter onto a path to careers in media art, web design, computer games and animation for motion pictures. Careers may also be in production of in-house graphics and animation for various businesses, television, web, and print advertising and interactive training. In most instances students will choose to develop their skills and a unique individual style in programs that offer courses beyond our two year curriculum. Program Descriptions The MCC Electronic Imaging and Media Arts program awards an associate degree. Courses in Computer Animation introduce software for 2D and 3D animation across a range of motion picture media. Interactive Media courses address the techniques and forms of electronic media that involve user interaction including software for web content delivery and computer based games. Media Integration is comprehensive and customizable. A student may also work toward a BASA degree through UNO's College of Fine Arts or Bellevue University by taking any of the electronic imaging components at MCC.
