Intercultural Studies from MidAmerica Nazarene University is a Campus Bachelor International studies degree that prepares you for a Science career. MidAmerica's Intercultural Studies program combines coursework in missions with a wide variety of cultural experiences, giving students the training to lead others in spiritual growth and the skills to connect with individuals from different races and ethnic backgrounds. As an Intercultural Studies major, your courses will focus on contextualization of the gospel to present eternal truth in culturally relevant ways, from the foundations and practice of missions, to cultural and social anthropology, understanding world religions, and modern languages. You'll also take core classes in Bible, theology, and church history, as well as related courses in ministry, evangelism, and Christian education. You can choose concentrations in sociology, urban ministry, business, music or ministry ordination, to gain additional expertise in the area that interests you most and has application in a wide range of cultural settings. This approach allows students to design an academic path that best supports their spiritual calling. Why MNU? You'll have plenty of opportunities to minister in foreign countries before you graduate, both as part of your curriculum and in your free time (like spring break). We collaborate with the Coalition of Christian Colleges and Universities (CCCU) to ensure that students can travel to wherever they feel called to serve. Our students travel to Europe, Central and South America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Asia, and more. Our location near Kansas City gives students opportunities to learn more about urban ministry, where global cultures are present within our own nation, through service positions with agencies like the Kansas City Rescue Mission or day-to-day volunteer work. We also offer a one-semester internship with the Bresee Institute, with locations in Kansas City and Los Angeles, offering seminars, workshops and consulting in urban ministry.
