Midland Lutheran College Respiratory Therapy School is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). The program is a bachelor's degree program typically completed in three years at Midland followed by an 11-month clinical rotation at Alegent. It is recommended that students complete all of the requirements and earn the bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy . This allows the student to take advanced human physiology, accounting, personnel management, genetics and/or education courses prior to the clinical year. Alternatively, after completion of the required prerequisite courses and the clinical year, a student may take the board examination administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Successful completion of the examination allows a candidate to obtain state licensure and gain employment while they finish the requirements for a bachelor's degree.
