Students interested in the communication major may choose one of three tracks in the major or select from a variety of electives to create a concentration that best prepares them for their personal and career objectives. We offer tracks in: Public Relations, Mass Media/Journalism, and Organizational Communication . Students are encouraged to engage in practical application of their studies . All students are required to complete a senior internship in their area of professional concentration. Additionally, other options for practical experience include working at the campus radio station, WJMU and/or the campus newspaper, Decaturian. Off campus experiences, via internships, service learning projects, or study abroad programs, are particularly valuable for the major or minor. Communication and Careers: Communication majors move on to careers in the human services, media , sales, counseling, training and development, public relations, business, and publishing. Recent graduates are now working for radio and TV stations, attending graduate school, planning media events, working in universities, organizing PR campaigns, trading commodities and much more.
