The certificate program is intended for students with a serious commitment to qualify for graduate study in biochemistry and molecular biology , molecular genetics, developmental biology, and other postgraduate science programs. It also provides excellent training for a variety of careers, such as laboratory research, science teaching, science writing, or patent law. The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Committee, composed of biology and chemistry faculty members, administers the program and advises students wishing to complete the certificate. Students use the excellent laboratory facilities of the Biology , Chemistry, and Physics Departments and are also encouraged to expand their research experience by enrolling in a directed research course or by participating in a summer research project on or off campus.
