Dance Choreography Master from Mills College details

Program Format: Campus Program Level: Master

Dance Choreography from Mills College is a Campus Master Dance degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The master of fine arts in dance with an emphasis in choreography is focused on the creation of dance and is designed for students with an intermediate level of modern dance technique. Our select group of students form a small, close-knit community. Working one-on-one with accomplished faculty dancer/choreographers, MFA candidates deepen their work as artists and expand their theoretical and historical knowledge in the field. The curriculum includes courses in choreography, history, theory, performance, and technique. Students participate in the Mills Repertory Dance Company which simulates the creation and rehearsal processes of the professional dance world. Students rehearse with renowned choreographers and participate in performances, festivals, and outreach events. Students also have the opportunity to showcase their work in Studio One Performances at the end of the semester, and all MFA candidates participate in a capstone thesis concert that demonstrates their choreographic projects. We also encourage students to get involved with the vibrant San Francisco Bay Area dance scene and to collaborate with our other renowned fine arts graduate programs on campus to create a one-of-a-kind educational experience. Between the inspiration that comes from the close faculty mentoring and the energy that comes from our enviable Bay Area location, students find an inspiring environment to develop their art.
