Digital Animation from Missouri Western State University is a Campus Bachelor Multimedia degree that prepares you for a Communications career. The Digital Animation degree offers an art student the opportunity to become proficient in skills that are useful for producing a wide range of animation for cinema, broadcast television, gaming and interactive media. Students will gain a broad foundation in all forms of animation from traditional hand-drawn to 3D animation. The Digital Animation degree reflects the convergence of computers and art, and emphasizes working with 2D and 3D graphics in a computer-based, graphics-intensive environment. A bachelor's degree is required for most entry-level and advanced animation positions. MWSU Art Department The main objective of the Art program is to provide students with opportunities to express their thoughts and ideas through a variety of media, such as paint, clay and film, to name a few. The department provides a foundation of knowledge and skills in the visual arts that will prepare students to practice art on a professional level. The Art Department boasts of fully equipped painting, ceramic, photography, sculpture, and printmaking studios. There is also a foundry, a department library, and an active art gallery program with visiting professional artists who exhibit, lecture and conduct workshops. Students have access to a state-of-the-art computer lab with the latest MacIntosh computers loaded with the most current graphic design and animation software. Career Opportunities Digital Animation majors may be self-employed or work for public or private businesses. Students who graduate with a B.F.A. degree in Digital Animation will be qualified for positions in the digital art industry including motion graphic designer, illustrative animator, character animator, character modeler, texture and lighting artist, background painter, medical and scientific visualization artist, product designer, visual effects artist, environment artists and level designer.
