The series of courses required for the degree will cover topics necessary to pass Automotive Service Excellence examinations in the areas of collision repair and refinishing. The associate degree program will include a ten-week summer internship in collision repair . Specialized facilities for automotive programs provide dedicated space for students to learn and perform work in laboratories. The 50,000 square-foot Automotive Technology Building provides additional opportunities for students to develop their skills in other automotive repair and service areas. Students receive practical laboratory experience in diagnosis of electrical/electronic problems, welding, brakes, steering, suspensions, air conditioning, and engines. The Autobody Technology Buildingset up like a real-world autobody shop, houses a large modern-day lab and classroom dedicated to auto body repair , refinishing and estimating. The building contains the most sophisticated equipment in the autobody industry, including superior air purification equipment, a laser measuring device capable of determining frame damage, a top-of-the-line alignment machine, and a Garmat paint booth, an environmentally friendly, superior down-draft paint spray booth that can dry a coat of paint in half the normal time.
