The Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in Recreation/Leisure Studies are designed to provide a student with a broad knowledge in the field of Recreation and Leisure Services, as well as specific skills in a professional work area. The curriculum includes courses emphasizing philosophy, history, effective use of leisure, program planning and leadership, skill development, organization and administration, management, field experiences, outdoor education, and related course work tailored to meet a student\\\'s professional goals in the recreation, parks, and leisure service profession. Leisure Service Management prepares students for leadership and supervisory positions in public, voluntary, and private recreation and leisure service agencies. Recreational Therapy prepares students for practitioner and supervisory positions in health care agencies and community-based recreation for special populations programs. Sport Management prepares students for coaching and athletic management careers in schools and leisure service delivery agencies. Exercise Science prepares students for careers in fitness centers and wellness programs. Physical Education prepares students to apply for teaching positions and seek licensure through the North Carolina lateral entry program; it also prepares students for graduate studies in teacher licensure programs.
