Towboat crews often live several hundred miles from the waterways where they work. This flexibility means workers can live near their family and friends and still be able to meet the boat when it is time to head back to work; The opportunity for a stable, well-paid career with unlimited potential to move up to positions of greater responsibility in a dynamic industry and drug-free environment. Maritime workers operate and maintain tugboats, dredges, excursion vessels and various waterborne craft on the Great Lakes, rivers and canals, and other waterways in harbors.
