We have more than 20 dedicated full-time faculty members whose teaching efforts take several forms. The most common one is the teaching of classes, where our faculty excel in making difficult material understandable. It is no surprise that several of them have received Board of Regents\\\' Teaching Awards! Then there is student research, where students gain advanced knowledge through participation in research projects with faculty members. A fine example of this is the BioMaPS program, a collaboration of some of our faculty with faculty from the Department of Biology. Finally, department members are enthusiastic supporters of mathematics-related social activities through organizations such as the Euclidean Math Club (which produced the recruiting video below), or chapters of national organizations Pi Mu Epsilon and the Association for Women in Mathematics . Our faculty regularly publishes research in pure and applied mathematics, and statistics. Keeping abreast of new developments in our areas of specialty helps us in shaping new curriculum content.
