The 36-credit Traditional Eastern Arts major is grounded in sitting meditation practice, which is required for students in all three concentrations. Through the practice of sitting meditation, introduced in Shambhala Meditation Practicum, students begin to discover simplicity and clarity of mind and develop \\\"here and now awareness.\\\" In the introductory Exploring Traditional Eastern Arts course, students explore sitting meditation, t\\\'ai-chi, yoga, aikido and ikebana, and study the philosophy of each of these disciplines and how they interrelate. This prepares them to choose one of three concentrations: T\\\'ai-chi Ch\\\'uan Aikido Yoga Teacher Training In addition to the sequence of courses in their chosen body/mind discipline, students take academic courses in the history, philosophy and culture of the discipline.
