Description of Program Medical Lab Technicians perform a wide range of laboratory procedures to assist the physician in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease processes. It is estimated that 75% of diagnoses are made based upon laboratory test results. The Medical Laboratory Technology Program at NPCC consists of 68 credit hours with the student receiving an Associate of Science in Medical Laboratory Technology upon successful completion. The student is then eligible to take a national certification exam. Program Goals Students with a background in science and math who seek a service-oriented healthcare profession will be recruited in the program. The program will offer an up-to-date curriculum that prepares students to enter the profession. The faculty will stay current in their professional discipline and facilitate student learning.
