Although normally intended for full-time students, courses many be taken on a part-time basis initially, with a minimum of one year in full-time residency required for completion of the dissertation. Candidates are generally expected to have a master\\\'s degree in chemical engineering with a GPA of 3.5 or better, and international students must submit a TOEFL score of at least 550(computer-based score = 213). Exceptional students may be accepted directly into the program with a bachelor\\\'s degree , and will be required to take 42 credits of course work and 36 credits of dissertation research.
