The program leading to the Master of Arts in Media and Communications offers three (3) sequences: interpersonal communication, mass communications and journalism. The interpersonal communication sequence has two tracks: (1) speech communication and (2) composition and language studies . The sequence aims to provide dimensions of academic preparation and professional experiences to prepare students for a wide range of occupations. The curriculum covers general linguistics, American English language, language and society, the communication arts, communication behavior, speech communication, analytic and critical reading and intercultural communication . The mass communications sequence has two tracks: (1) broadcast administration and (2) media production. The broadcast administration track is designed to provide students with academic knowledge and work experience required for careers in the administration of the electronic media (cable, satellite, radio and television) at the mid-management level. The media production track is designed to provide students with advanced skills and work experience in planning, creating, organizing and producing a wide variety of media audio and video productions. The journalism sequence has two tracks: (1) news editorial management and (2) public relations. The sequence is designed as a mid-career program for journalists and media and public relations practitioners or those who want to build upon a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
