The Department of Natural Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Biology, as well as a Minor in Biology, which prepares students for careers and graduate work in the biological sciences. Students have the opportunity to create an academic track tailored to their interests, with concentrations in Cell and Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, Organismal Biology, Ecology and Environmental Science, or Forensic Science. Biology majors will acquire an appreciation of the impact of science of society, and will develop critical thinking skills and laboratory techniques so as to be capable of designing, carrying out, and interpreting scientific experiments. Students will also explore biological processes and structures at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels. All programs within the Department of Natural Sciences are interdisciplinary, exposing the student to fields related to and beyond his/her own. Students also have the opportunity to participate in community based learning by partnering with local elementary schools to design and conduct science experiments with younger students.
