English Drama from Notre Dame of Maryland University is a Campus Bachelor Theatre degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The Drama Concentration offer courses in acting, directing, stagecraft and dramatic literature, but Notre Dame focuses on new student original work with playwriting as a required component of the program. Student plays are given staged readings, followed by productions of each play. Major full length dramas of worth are given full scale productions. A recent production includes Clytmenestra in the Kitchen by Shelley Puhak. The production was recognized by the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. Students also have the option of a student-designed drama major in conjunction with courses taken at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. The student registers at Notre Dame (all scholarships and other funding is the same as if attending classes in Baltimore), but the student spends her junior year at the Lancaster campus taking theatre classes.
