About Program NSU\'s entry-level program leading to a Master\'s in Occupational Therapy (MOT) degree is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). The program attracts individuals who are creative, compassionate, and like to help others achieve their potential. Our program begins annually in June. It is a full-time, intensive program on the beautiful Fort Lauderdale-Davie campus. Our two and 1/2 year MOT program is uniquely designed so a student may enter after 90 semester hours of undergraduate work of which 30 credit hours must be upper division, that is, junior level or above. Highly qualified students may enter as Freshman at NSU in the Dual Admit program. The MOT program at NSU is dedicated to preparing occupational therapists to serve as part of an interdisciplinary team of health professionals in a variety of practice settings, including hospitals, schools, outpatient, and home health. We also prepare graduates to develop programs in settings where occupational therapists are not yet employed. The program builds upon a strong undergraduate preparation, continuing to teach students to think critically and solve challenges effectively. At NSU, we are committed to educating our graduates to be prepared for the requirements of current and emerging practice. Because knowledge and conditions are constantly changing, the emphasis in our classes is how to find and evaluate the latest information critical for best practices in occupational therapy .
