Students who successfully complete the first year of the Associate Degree Nursing curriculum may select the option of enrolling in NUR 151. Upon completion of this course, students receive the Practical Nurse certificate and are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. Students who successfully complete the second year of the curriculum are eligible to apply to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses . Eligibility to sit for the licensure examination is determined by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulations of the State of Illinois. Nursing courses are a combination of classroom and clinical experiences. Nursing classes are usually held on the Des Plaines campus, while clinical experience is offered in a variety of health care settings in the community.
