Opportunities In History At The Ohio State University at Lima Campus The Ohio State University at Lima offers the history student personal attention through smaller class sizes as well as motivated faculty who are subject to the same rigorous standards of academic excellence required of all Ohio State professors. History majors work closely with faculty who specialize in a wide variety of fields and have opportunities to participate in independent research, field trips, social organizations, and honorary societies. In association with Honors History 151 and 152, the History Department offers field trips on alternate years to the Civil War Battlefield of Gettysburg, and to the historic Underground Railroad homes of John Rankin and John Parker located on the banks of the Ohio River in Ripley, Ohio. The Lima Campus also boasts an active History Club whose mission is to promote historical insight, develop relationships among peers, and have fun! The History Club meets these goals through organizing a Brown Bag Lunch Series, a Film Series, inter-club competitions, dinner, fundraisers, and field trips.
