History from Ohio State University - Newark Campus is a Campus Bachelor History degree that prepares you for a Liberal Arts career. History is not simply a lot of names, dates, and battles; at Ohio State, history is alive and probably not what most students expect. History is the key to understanding war, revolution, famine, and social upheaval of today?s world. History does not just recite facts and names but involves analysis and understanding. History is the sum total of the human experience, and that experience serves as a mirror reflecting today?s events. It is an adventure story that is true. When studying history , students learn how to read critically, develop an analytical argument, and write persuasively. Papers are required in most courses and almost all examinations are in essay format so that upon completing a history major, students will not only know a good deal of information about the human experience but also will be better able to communicate effectively. Students can focus the history major on a subject of interest: historians specialize in geographic regions, like Europe, Africa, or Asia; they study time periods, like the ancient or the very modern world; or they emphasize thematic issues such as the history of women or military history . Co-Curricular Opportunities Ohio State offers many opportunities for students to learn and grow outside of the classroom. These range from cooperative education (co-op) and internships to study abroad programs to student organizations. Co-ops and internships place students in professional environments while they are Ohio State students. In particular, History 489, History Internship, allows students to work directly with professional historians. Ohio State offers more than 100 study abroad programs in 40 countries around the world. In addition, there are hundreds of student organizations on campus to meet the interests of a diverse student population. These experiences enable students to gain valuable work experience, learn about cultures, and take on leadership roles before they enter the workforce. All of these experiences enhance learning and may provide an advantage in the job market. View more details on Ohio State University - Newark Campus .
