Ceramics from Ohio University - Main Campus is a Campus Bachelor Ceramic degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. All students enter the School of Art as Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) art majors, and must complete requirements in studio foundations and art history before applying for admission into the B.F.A degree during their second year of study. This application also requires a portfolio review, a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75, and an in-major GPA of 3.0. Studio Majors The B.F.A. degree program with a major in one studio area provides extensive study in a single discipline. Studio majors find success as professional artists or graphic designers, enter graduate schools, or work in related art and design fields. All B.F.A. studio areas require an exhibition of each student?s artwork as the crowning event in achieving the degree . Student achievements are acknowledged through awards presented at student exhibitions, as well as through talent and academic scholarships. These scholarships are available to both incoming and continuing students. All students enter the program as Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) art majors and share common requirements in general academics, studio foundations, and art history. To become a major in ceramics , graphic design, painting, photography, printmaking, or sculpture, a portfolio of studio work must be submitted for review at the end of the sophomore year. Students may apply to more than one area, but are encouraged to dedicate their studies to only one, after passing review.
