The Certificate in Religion and Culture is designed to provide undergraduate students with both breadth and depth in the academic study of religion, with a focus on how religious practice and ideas are manifested as both a shaper and critic of broader cultures nationally and globally. The certificate is open to all OSU undergraduates as a supplement to any undergraduate degree program. It builds on a core curriculum of courses in the study of religion in the Department of Philosophy and extends student learning to courses in religion and culture, diversity, literature, and western religious experience in 11 other academic departments. Completion of the certificate requires a minimum of 29 credits, including 17 credits from religion courses in the Philosophy Department and 12 credits of approved electives from other departments, and is recognized with a transcript-visible notation.
