Due to this growth, the need for healthcare professionals with knowledge relating to healthcare operations is increasing. Currently, there are no MHA degree programs in the Greater Baton Rouge area, and in particular, none that are offered through distributed education. The MHA was developed in response to these needs and the College\\\'s Board of Trustees approved the program in April 2010. The MHA program will accept its first class in Fall 2011. The purpose of the Health Administration program is to prepare students for rewarding careers as healthcare managers in a variety of settings. This program is intended for students who seek a career in inpatient, ambulatory, insurance, long-term care and many other health settings. Upon completion of the program, students will be productive in areas such as acute care, primary care facilities, medical group practices, long-term care facilities, public health organizations, health insurance agencies, alternative delivery organizations, federal, state and local agencies, pharmaceutical and other related organizations.
