As cultures converge and clash, there is a critical need for education and understanding among people of different ethnic, cultural, and linguistic origins. Individuals fluent in several languages and familiar with international cultures are in demand. The Modern Languages and Cultures curriculum includes both a major (24 credits) and a minor (12 credits) track. The major track offers an in-depth comprehensive program leading to linguistic and cultural fluency in one of the following languages: French, Italian, Russian or Spanish at the New York City campus and French or Spanish at the Pleasantville campus. The minor track options are either a second language or an interdisciplinary areas study of one of the following tracks: a) Italian Studies (NYC and PLV); b) Francophone Studies (NYC and PLV); c) Hispanic Studies (NYC and PLV); d) Slavic Studies (NYC only). You will develop a strong foundation that can lead to graduate school as well as teaching, publishing, translation, interpretation, and many other career opportunities.
