Teaching Childhood from Pace University - New York is a Campus Master Early Childhood Education degree that prepares you for a Education career. The Pace curriculum provides a focused exploration into the different ways that individuals learn, as well as practice adapting teaching methods to meet the needs of individual students. Student teaching options include a one-semester assignment or a full-year teaching internship. There are two tracks in the MST program: the Childhood (grades 1-6) track and the Adolescent (grades 7-12) track, on which a candidate selects a teaching specialty subject???biology, business education, chemistry, earth science, English, languages other than English, mathematics, physics, social science, or the visual arts. Faculty members include educators with elementary and secondary teaching expertise as well as experience as school principals, and many top professionals who have presented numerous conference papers and published books and professional articles about teaching. Graduates who pass the New York State Teacher Certification Exam will be eligible for initial teaching certification; students can qualify for certificate extensions in Bilingual Education , Middle Childhood Education, and Gifted Education with additional classes and field-based experience. Pace High School, a vanguard school opened in 2004, collaboratively sponsored and chartered by Pace University , the New Century High Schools Initiative, and the NYC Board of Education, is a great opportunity for local hands-on team-teaching internship experience.
