We combine the education and practice of traditional skin care with the education and practice of spa services along with facial treatments and peels. This well rounded approach prepares our graduates to work in salons, spas or medical offices. It is also important for our students to become knowledgeable and comfortable with the use of electrical currents and facial machines. Most new professional skin care services involve combining products and treatments with a variety of different machines. Our students learn how to use high frequency, galvanic, and ultrasound currents on the skin . The use of these currents has been very effective in promoting the health of the skin because they are able to treat specific problems some clients have such as acne. This approach gives our students the ability to transition into other machine modalities offered in medical settings if they need to. For example in Florida laser treatments are only available in a medical office and there are a multitude of different types. Estheticians are not permitted in Florida to use a laser machine unless they are working for a doctor. If our graduates seek employment with a medical doctor typically the doctor or the trainer from the laser manufacturer will provide the specific education for their machine. However they will expect the Esthetician to have a foundation of knowledge for them to work from. Doctors are not trained to perform facials and soothing skin services in their education. They expect professional Estheticians to have an education independent of their own that works in harmony with their practice of medicine.
