The Master of Science in School Psychology program at PCOM is designed to develop professionals who possess the personal characteristics and academic competencies necessary to provide mental health services to children, adolescents, and families. Training is offered in the following areas: Psychological and educational foundations Developmental processes Statistics and research methodologies The Master of Science degree can be completed in 14 months and requires a minimum of 33 credits beyond the Bachelor\\\'s degree. Students follow an established sequence of required courses, which includes fieldwork and an approved practicum. School psychology is an evolving and dynamic field of study and practice is integral to successfully addressing the diverse needs of children, families, and schools. As a practitioner, school psychologists are able to provide a range of mental health services on different levels (e.g., individual, small group, school-wide). The PCOM school psychology faculty have adopted a practitioner-scholar approach to training future school psychologists. As a result of this approach, students are given opportunities for hands-on learning that takes place in the evenings and on selected weekends. This allows school psychology students to maintain outside employment while dedicating evenings and some selected weekends to learning.
