Program Format: Campus Program Level: Bachelor

Integrated Marketing Communications from Point Park University is a Campus Bachelor Public Relations degree that prepares you for a Communications career. Today?s media landscape calls for innovative integrated marketing communications (IMC) campaigns that sell products and services. Our IMC program does just that by utilizing a strategic approach that combines advertising, public relations, direct marketing, interactive/Internet marketing, sales promotions, and personal selling to the maximum advantage of clients. Courses were designed to provide students with in-depth knowledge of the components of the promotional section of the marketing mix model. This enables students to develop and execute campaigns producing tangible results that align with, and support, the business strategies of organizations. This communications recipe is similar to that of a prize-winning cake where the correct quantity of each ingredient is critical for the end result. In other words, what percentage of the communication message should be allocated to each of the ?ingredients? of the IMC campaign. We revised our IMC program in 2010 to align it with the evolving demands of the marketplace, including a strong focus on corporate writing, public relations, advertising, interactive design/digital capabilities and social media. The curriculum is based on developing hands-on communication skills that are taught by faculty from the School of Communication and the School of Business (marketing, marketing research and marketing management along with business courses in areas such as human resources and sales). With the final course, the program culminates into a hands-on capstone class where the entire group is organized into an agency that produces an IMC program for a local company/organization to provide students with an invaluable real world work simulation.
