Art from Radford University is a Campus Master Study of Art degree that prepares you for a Art and Design career. The Master of Fine Arts degree is a terminal studio degree program to pursue professional activities as a practicing visual artist or for entry into college teaching. The degree consists of 60 semester hours of course work, a thesis, and an M.F.A. exhibition. Students elect an area of concentration and work closely with the graduate faculty to plan their program of study. The written thesis requirement of the M.F.A. program insures that students display verbal as well as visual abilities. Facilities Powell Hall houses studios for drawing, painting, graphic design, photography, and jewelry/metalsmithing. It also contains art education and art history facilities, an art computer lab with video and animation capabilities, a slide room, and departmental offices. Studio facilities in the art annex are dedicated to sculpture and ceramics. Graduate students manage and share their own studio space on the second floor of the Bondurant Center for the Arts in downtown Radford, a short walk from campus. Graduate Teaching Assistants share an office for appointments with students, email, and computer access.
