Demonstrate a breadth of knowledge (see 1a and 1b below) in the field of psychology , which includes general psychological principles and the following core perspectives in psychology: social and cultural determinants of behavior biological, developmental, and individual determinants of behavior applied and therapeutic aspects of psychology methodological and data analytic bases of behavioral science historical origins and bases of psychology ethical and professional foundations of psychological research and/or practice 1a. Recognize, recall, define, explain, or provide examples of major concepts, principles, and methods of psychology. 1b. Apply major concepts, principles, and the methods of psychology to real world situations. 2. Analyze and make predictions about real world events and develop opinions about the world which are informed by relevant concepts, principles, and methods in psychology. 3. Critically evaluate information from a psychological perspective, including distinguishing between scientific and non-scientific information; evaluating the quality, veracity, and limitations of major concepts, principles, and methods in psychology; synthesizing major concepts, principles, and methods to form solutions to problem; and/or using formal decision making techniques to choose between alternative courses of action. 4. Demonstrate competence in behavioral science research, including the following: 1. reviewing, evaluating, and integrating empirical literature 2. designing and conducting empirical studies 3. analyzing behavioral data 4. reporting empirical research and/or reviews of empirical research in the field of psychology , including the preparation of reports in the publication format of the American Psychological Association, preparation and presentation of research posters, and/or oral presentations of researchy View more details on Radford University .
