Human Services Counseling Master from Regent University details

Program Format: Online Program Level: Master

Human Services Counseling from Regent University is a Online Master Counseling Psychology degree that prepares you for a Psychology career. The Master of Arts in Human Services Counseling (HSC) is designed to equip individuals with valuable counseling skills for use in ministry, missions or any other vocation where those skills are essential, but a license is not. The HSC offers an emphasis in church, parachurch and organizational counseling and may be earned in only 12 months. The coursework is offered online; however, a five-day residency at the Virginia Beach campus is required. This program is also recommended for joint degree students who are not pursuing counseling licensure. The Human Services Counseling program is designed to offer human-relations training to individuals who frequently fulfill the role of \\\"counselor,\\\" though their actual work role is not that of a full-time mental-health professional. Teachers, emergency medical personnel, and women and men in the military (especially senior enlisted service members) all fit that category, as do others who mentor, coach, and supervise others. As such, the goal of the program is not to develop clinical professionals, but to train students who seek to help others within a ministry setting or their usual vocations. The HSC provides training and practice in interpersonal skills using Biblical framework and helps to position people for service in the community and church who are skillful and caring, and can help develop the spiritual and emotional well-being of those with whom they interact.
