The biochemistry major at Regis College aims to foster in students the intellectual background necessary for success in a modern scientific endeavor. Curriculum requirements are designed to build a solid scientific grounding while allowing flexibility for concentration in areas consistent with specific student goals. All of this is offered in the context of a broad liberal arts education. One of our primary goals is to give students hands-on laboratory experience; our labs are designed with computers and instrumentation to facilitate this goal. We also place students in work-study positions ranging from involvement in reagent preparation to teaching assistantships. This experience?along with the rigorous curriculum?provides excellent training for a career or post-graduate studies in chemistry, biochemistry, and related fields. We strongly encourage biochemistry majors to pursue internships and research opportunities during the last two years of study.
