Phlebotomy from River Valley Community College is a Campus Certificate Pharmacy degree that prepares you for a Healthcare career. The phlebotomist (PBT) is often the first contact a patient has with the clinical laboratory and is key to building a bridge of trust between the patient and health care professionals. The PBT must project an image of compassion, professionalism and competence while obtaining blood samples and processing a variety of laboratory specimens to be used in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. The Phlebotomy Program integrates theoretical, practical and interpersonal skills providing the basis for the certificate recipient to work as an entry-level phlebotomist. Fine motor skills and some mobility are required for students to successfully perform in most clinical facilities: drawing patient\\\'s blood in the inpatient and outpatient settings, processing specimens including operating mechanical and computerized equipment and performing clerical duties.
